In a few words – it doesn’t. Mana Kai is not on the Minatoya list of condos that would be impacted, should new legislation on Maui short term rentals pass. More than 7,000 other short term rental condos, across 100 properties, would be prohibited from renting short term in 2026 should legislation written by Maui Mayor Joe Bissen pass. The measure would create an estimated $280 million revenue shortfall for Maui county, and proponents of the law – which will be heard by the council and most certainly be opposed in the courts – have not addressed how these funds would be recovered.
