Vacation-Maui was thrilled to attend the soft opening of Wolfgang’s Steakhouse at the Shops at Wailea, and the world-renowned meat palace did not disappoint. The location covers the old Longhi’s, and spans a completely renovated 6,100 square feet, including indoor and outdoor seating, and a wine room featuring “a thousand bottles of wine.”
The design and décor blend Wolfgang’s signature classic, old-school elegance with a stylish and contemporary edge. Softly sculpted wood surfaces, dramatic lighting and interior lines, and a well-spaced dining area set the tone, and the service and faire deliver. Christian, the GM, worked the room and soaked up well-deserved staff accolades, and our waiter, Jeff, was spot-on with menu descriptions, recommendations, and service.
Our table settled on the tomahawk and New York sirloin steak offerings, and they were absolutely superb. We shared an array of sides and self-indulgent desserts, and left satisfied, impressed, and planning our return.
One cautionary note: Wolfgang’s is not affiliated in any way with Wolfgang Puck, and in fact was founded by Wolfgang Zwiener, who makes frequent dining appearances at the Waikiki location. Wolfgang’s features a selection of USDA Black Angus Prime beef, stored in a customized in-house aging room for 28 days.
